Ministry signs first Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives 

Nairobi ,2024 The Ministry of Health and the Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM) have signed their first-ever Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), effective from , 2021, to , 2025. Signed by Principal Secretaries Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health) and Mr. Harry Kimtai (Medical Services), this agreement improves nurses’ rights, working conditions, and benefits. 

Key aspects include union rights, job classifications, salaries, allowances, and employment conditions, along with clear procedures for dispute resolution and essential services. 

This milestone supports nurses’ welfare and professional development, enhancing public health service delivery and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Kenya.
