National and County Governments Health Summit 2025: Nairobi, KENYA - 17th February 2025

 A strong healthcare system is essential for a nation’s well-being, economic growth, and social stability. His Excellency Prof. Abraham Kithure Kindiki, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, on Monday 17 February 2024 presided over the Health Summit 2025, held at his Official Residence, bringing together key stakeholders to assess the progress of Taifa Care. 

During the summit the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah M. Barasa, reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to strengthening healthcare access and sustainability. She highlighted the achievements, challenges, and future strategies for achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). 

 Dr. Barasa emphasized the need for innovative health financing mechanisms, including the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) and the Emergency, Chronic, and Critical Illness Fund (ECCIF), to address funding gaps and sustain healthcare services. 

She also underscored the importance of investing in Human Resources for Health (HRH) to ensure a well-trained and well-equipped healthcare workforce across all counties. 

 The summit, attended by governors, cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, development partners, and healthcare stakeholders, focused on strengthening Taifa Care to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and sustainable for all Kenyans.
