Efforts Towards Malaria Elimination in Busia County Bearing Fruits
Busia, July20,2024 Busia County has achieved a significant reduction in malaria cases, decreasing from 763/1000 in to 517/1000 in . Speaking in Busia County at the launch of the National Mass Net Distribution Campaign, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, attributed the 6% decline to targeted interventions, including high-impact Indoor Residual Spraying and intensified case management.
"This concerted effort by the Ministry of Health, development partners, and county governments aims to protect 1,458,774 residents with 773,936 nets and build on these successful efforts," noted Ms. Muthoni.
"With ongoing community training, enhanced diagnostics, and promising research on spatial repellents, Busia County continues to make strides towards eliminating malaria," she added.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with its partners, remains committed to reducing malaria prevalence and improving the health outcomes of the residents of Busia County.
