Activation of Community Health Program to enhance hygiene in public places.
Kongowea Mombasa, The government has taken a major step to improve public health and sanitation by launching the Community Health Promoters (CHPs) program, focusing on key public spaces like markets and communal areas. Public Health and Professional Standards Permanent Secretary, Mary Muthoni, officially launched the initiative at Kongowea Market in Mombasa County.
Ms Muthoni noted that the CHPs will be instrumental in providing essential health education and promoting hygiene practices in various public settings. "By directly engaging with vendors and the public, the program aims to create cleaner and safer environments nationwide." Said the PS.
This initiative is a vital part of the government's strategy to bring health services closer to communities, reduce disease transmission, and significantly enhance living conditions in public spaces.
