UNICEF Kenya and Ministry of Health Strengthening Partneship for Enhanced Public Health Initiatives
𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢, 𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 — UNICEF Kenya and the Ministry of Health have maintained a strong partnership, collaborating in key areas such as maternal and neonatal health, child nutrition, immunization, emergency public health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene.
On , Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah Barasa, welcomed UNICEF Country Representative, Shaheen Nilofer, for a courtesy visit.
The discussions centered on further strengthening collaboration, particularly in improving public communication, risk communication, and community engagement. Dr. Barasa expressed her appreciation for UNICEF's ongoing support, especially in developing primary healthcare networks across Kenya.
UNICEF reiterated its commitment to assisting the government's efforts in managing the Mpox outbreak.
The meeting was also attended by Director General Dr. Patrick Amoth and Dr. Issak Bashir, Head of the Family Health Department, while Ms. Nilofer was accompanied by her Deputy, Mr. Mahboob Bajwa.
