JEE Workshop in Naivasha Focuses on Strengthening Global Health Security

𝐍𝐚𝐒𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐑𝐚, π’πžπ©π­πžπ¦π›πžπ« 𝟏𝟎, πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ’ – The Joint External Evaluation (JEE) workshop entered its second dayΒ , with local and continental stakeholders intensifying discussions on strategies to address infectious disease risks through coordinated responses.Β 

Dr. Victoria Kanana, representing the National Public Health Institute (NPHI), highlighted the importance of maintaining minimum core capacities for surveillance and response, especially at points of entry.Β 

She emphasized that effective multisectoral coordination, communication, and partnerships are crucial for detecting, assessing, and responding to public health events.Β 

Key topics at the workshop included Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), National Laboratory Systems, Zoonosis, Radiation Emergencies, Points of Entry, and Infection Prevention and Control. Speakers stressed the need for a β€œOne Health” approach, which aligns with the World Health Organization’s International Health Regulations (IHR) 2005.Β 

This approach aims to integrate human, animal, and environmental health to ensure global health security. As global connectivity increases, the workshop underscored the necessity for robust capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies.
