Strengthening Community Health Initiatives for Universal Health Coverage
Machakos , 2024 The Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni met with the Deputy Governor of Machakos County, H.E. Hon. Francis Mwangangi to discuss strengthening collaboration between the National and County governments in advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The focus was on enhancing community health programs, which are essential in bringing healthcare services closer to the people, particularly in underserved areas.
They also explored opportunities to leverage National and International Health Days as platforms to promote public health initiatives. These events play a key role in raising awareness about disease prevention and health promotion, aligning with their shared goal of improving the overall well-being of the community.
Through these joint efforts, they aim to build a robust public health system that empowers communities to take charge of their health, ultimately contributing to the successful realization of UHC.
