Health Cabinet Secretary Leads Groundbreaking for New ICU and Renal Unit in Kinango
Kwale, Kenya – October 17, 2024
The establishment of a Renal Unit is crucial for addressing the rising prevalence of kidney-related health issues in our communities. Today, Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa, alongside members of the G7 Strategy County Chapter Activation—H.E Fatuma Achani (host), H.E. Anne Waiguru, H.E. Wavinya Ndeti, H.E. Cecily Mbarire, H.E. Susan Kihika, and H.E. Gladys Wanga—presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Renal Unit at Kinango Sub-County Hospital.
This facility symbolizes our commitment to enhancing the quality of care available to our community and reflects our government’s dedication to improving healthcare services for all Kenyans under the BETA initiative. The ICU and Renal Unit will provide critical care to patients during emergencies, ensuring that citizens receive the medical attention they need without the burden of long-distance travel.
“ By strengthening local healthcare services, we are directly supporting the health and well-being of residents in Kinango Sub-County. The Kenya Kwanza government recognizes that good health is foundational to development, and our bottom-up economic transformation agenda aims to empower communities from the ground up,” said the CS.
These new units represent significant steps toward achieving universal health coverage while alleviating the financial burdens often associated with healthcare. Investing in local healthcare infrastructure fosters economic growth, job creation, and overall community resilience.
“ I want to express my gratitude to everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition. Your dedication and collaboration are crucial as we work together to build a healthier future for all,” she said.
