The 26th Annual Scientific Conference of the Kenya Clinical Officers Association highlight the Role of Clinicians in Primary Health Networks in Achieving Universal Health Coverage.
Mombasa , 2024 The Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, graced the 26th Annual Scientific Conference of the Kenya Clinical Officers Association (KCOA), held under the theme “The Role of Clinicians in Primary Health Networks in Achieving Universal Health Coverage.” The conference convened clinical officers from across the country to deliberate on their critical role in strengthening primary healthcare and advancing the nation’s journey toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
In her keynote address, Ms. Muthoni commended the invaluable contributions of clinical officers in delivering quality healthcare services, particularly at the grassroots level. She highlighted the pivotal role they play in enhancing primary health networks, which are essential for achieving UHC and improving the health outcomes of all Kenyans. The PS reiterated the Ministry of Health’s commitment to supporting clinical officers through capacity building, policy enhancement, and integration into vital national health programs like the Social Health Authority.
Ms. Muthoni emphasized the need for continuous professional development, innovation, and research among clinical officers to optimize healthcare delivery. She encouraged them to leverage their expertise in expanding access to healthcare services, especially in underserved areas, thus playing a central role in the realization of UHC.
