Principal Secretary for the State Department of Medical Services Mr. Harry Kimtai Receives Courtesy Call from Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director, UNAIDS

𝟗 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 Nairobi, Kenya – The Principal Secretary for the State Department of Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai, today received a courtesy call from Ms. Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of UNAIDS. 

 The high-level bilateral meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in the fight against HIV/AIDS and the continued support for Kenya’s efforts in advancing health initiatives. 

Mr. Kimtai and Ms. Byanyima exchanged views on shared priorities and discussed key actions toward achieving global AIDS targets, including Kenya’s role in the upcoming 55th PCB meeting. 

 The discussions also underscored the importance of partnership between Kenya and UNAIDS, with particular emphasis on enhancing community leadership, long-acting injectables, and the continued efforts to ensure the success of the AIDS response towards the 2030 goals. 

 Mr. Kimtai reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to supporting UNAIDS’ mission, noting the country’s readiness to contribute further to the global HIV response, particularly in the context of the upcoming 2025 Global AIDS Strategy.
