Ministry of Health Reaffirms Commitment to Universal Health Coverage During KNH Visit

Nairobi, Kenya - On Thursday 16th January 2025, the Cabinet Secretary for Health Dr. Deborah Barasa, accompanied by Principal Secretaries Mr. Harry Kimtai (Medical Services) and Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health), Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, and Kenyatta National Hospital CEO Dr. Evanson Kamuri, visited patients at Kenyatta National Hospital.

During the visit, Dr. Barasa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), a priority aimed at ensuring all Kenyans have access to affordable and quality healthcare services.

The Ministry announced that recent challenges affecting the healthcare system have been resolved, with the system now fully operational. Dr. Barasa emphasized that the Ministry continues to work tirelessly to enhance service delivery and improve access to healthcare across the country.

She encouraged Kenyans to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to access care at the country’s health facilities as the government intensifies efforts to deliver on its UHC agenda.
