ย Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa,ย todayย joined His Excellency President Dr. William Samoei Ruto and Deputy President Hon. Prof. Abraham Kithure Kindiki for the official opening of the Mkongani Sub-County Hospital Theatre Block.ย

The President also laid the foundation stone for the construction of an X-ray & Diagnostics Center, addressing a critical service gap that previously forced residents to travel over 20 kilometers to Kwale Sub-County Hospital.

The facility, which began as a Level 2 dispensary in 1949, was upgraded to a Level 3 Mkongani Model Health Center in 2021 due to increasing demand for services.ย Today, it has been further elevated to a Level 4 Sub-County Hospital, expanding its capacity to provide comprehensive medical care.ย

ย The event was attended by Kwale County and Matuga Constituency leadership, alongside other stakeholders committed to advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through Taifa Care. Taifa Care is not just about improving access but about transforming healthcare to better serve every Kenyan.
