Health Providers Trained on Global Budget Payment Mechanism
Nairobi, Kenya – February 27, 2025 – The Ministry of Health engaged private health providers from RUPHA, KAPH, and FBOs to enhance their understanding of the global budget payment mechanism for outpatient services and the rollout of the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to integrating providers into the SHA claims dashboard for transparency. He also reaffirmed that funds for primary healthcare are available and that stakeholder concerns will be addressed.
Key agreements from a February 24 meeting with RUPHA Chairperson Dr. Brian Lishenga included capacity-building for providers, improving access to the claims dashboard, and refining outpatient reimbursement models.
SHA Acting CEO, Mr. Robert Ingarisa, welcomed feedback, stressing the need for continuous system improvement. Dr. Lishenga described the engagement as productive, citing progress in ensuring financial protection for providers under the PHC model.
The meeting brought together SHA, the Ministry of Health, CHAK, KCCB, KAPH, RUPHA, and KHF, strengthening Kenya’s primary healthcare system.
