Strengthening Healthcare Through Prevention, Quality Standards, and Community Engagement

Nairobi , 2025 Kenya is making a strategic shift from curative to preventive healthcare, focusing on early disease detection to improve treatment outcomes and reduce healthcare costs by minimizing hospital admissions. The Community Health Program is central to this approach, with 107,831 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) deployed nationwide to enhance access to primary healthcare services at the grassroots level.

To ensure quality and standards in healthcare training and service delivery, the government has put in place measures to equip health professionals with the necessary skills and resources to meet both national and global standards. Additionally, Kenya is strengthening response preparedness for public health emergencies, reinforcing its commitment to a resilient healthcare system.

These key priorities were highlighted by Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, during an interview on KBC’s The Shift program, where she discussed flagship programs under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the broader vision for a healthier Kenya.
