PS Medical Services Engages Family Health Directorate on Key Health Priorities

On , 2024, the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, held a consultative breakfast meeting with staff from the Directorate of Family Health at the Ministry of Health. The meeting brought together teams from key divisions including NASCOP, RMNCH, Mental Health, NCDs, and Immunization.

Discussions centered on adapting to the evolving healthcare landscape, the roll-out of the Social Health Authority (SHA), and improving program efficiency to align with the government’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.

Priority areas identified included vaccination, health commodity security, HRH strengthening, and digitization of services. The meeting also focused on operational strategies to strengthen structures for service delivery and program performance.

Dr. Oluga emphasized the importance of open, solution-oriented dialogue, urging staff to stay focused on tangible outcomes that advance national health priorities. He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to promoting, protecting, and restoring the health of all Kenyans.

Director of Family Health, Dr. Isaack Bashir, pledged the Directorate’s full support to the PS and commitment to advancing the shared goals.

The PS was accompanied by Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, along with other senior Ministry officials.
