Kenya Chairs the 25th Ordinary Meeting of the EAC Sectoral Council of Ministers of Health
Arusha May 7-9th, 2025 Kenya is this week chairing the 25th Ordinary Meeting of the East African Community (EAC) Sectoral Council of Ministers of Health, taking place in Arusha, Tanzania.
The meeting brings together representatives from EAC Partner States to deliberate on key strategies for strengthening regional health integration. Discussions are focusing on cross-border disease surveillance and response, joint training and development of human resources for health, research collaboration, and innovative approaches to resource mobilization.
Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni is leading the sessions, Kenya is leading efforts to champion resilient and inclusive health systems, foster regional cooperation in tackling emerging health threats, and promote collective progress toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
"Together with our EAC Partner States, we are committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of our people through joint action, shared expertise, and sustainable health investments." Stated the PS during the Principal Secretaries session.
