PS Dr. Ouma Oluga Meets Migori Governor to Enhance Health Sector Support
𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢, 𝟏𝟏 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 - The Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, hosted Migori Governor H.E. Ochilo Ayacko at Afya House for discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the County Government of Migori.
Dr. Oluga reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting counties in transforming their health systems, noting that efforts are underway to align national programs with county-specific needs.
“We are very keen to work with you on the percentage of population that has been covered in SHA registration and the overall state of your health workforce—in terms of numbers, skills, and distribution,” stated Dr. Oluga.
He further highlighted the Ministry’s focus on ensuring counties benefit from the ongoing National Equipment Support Programme (NESP), which aims to enhance diagnostic and treatment capacity at facility level.
“On issues around equipment, we are committed to ensuring county uptake of the National Equipment Support Programme, and Migori is among the priority counties,” he added.
Governor Ayacko welcomed the Ministry’s support and expressed the county’s readiness to collaborate on key priority areas, including:
▪️Infrastructure development in health facilities
▪️Strengthening of ambulance services
▪️Provision of equipment for both primary and referral facilities
▪️Enhanced supply of kits for Community Health Promoters (CHPs)
▪️Support for increased SHA enrollment, noting that approximately 37.7% of the county’s population has registered so far.
The Governor emphasized that such partnerships are critical to delivering quality and equitable health services to the people of Migori.
Also present at the meeting was the Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, alongside other senior Ministry officials.
