CS Duale Calls on Kenyans to Enrol in Social Health Insurance and Uphold Accountability in the Health Sector
𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 – Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale has called on Kenyans to take an active role in restoring integrity and accountability in the health sector by enrolling in the Social Health Insurance scheme and reporting service concerns through official channels.
Addressing the media at the Social Health Authority (SHA) headquarters, Hon. Duale urged all unenrolled citizens to immediately register via *147# or the Afya Yangu platform. He also encouraged the public to report any service-related issues through the 24/7 quality hotline 147, as part of broader efforts to enhance transparency and rebuild public confidence in the system.
The CS announced the official posting of 6,484 healthcare interns effective , 2025— a major milestone in strengthening Kenya’s health workforce and accelerating the journey toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC). He underscored that human resources remain central to the effective delivery of health services nationwide.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the success of TaifaCare, Hon. Duale outlined three foundational principles: financial sustainability through timely premium contributions, zero tolerance for fraud, and universal access to quality care.
He further reminded employers that remitting employee contributions by the 9th of each month is a legal obligation and a critical step in safeguarding the national health fund. The CS noted that the Ministry’s integrated digital platforms are enabling real-time monitoring of transactions—ensuring transparency, accountability, and prudent use of public health resources.
