Strengthening Partnerships for Specialised Surgical Care
Nairobi, Kenya - 6 January 2026 - Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale today held a consultative meeting with representatives of the Dawoodi Bohra Community of Kenya, led by Head Priest Koserali Najmuddin, to discuss the forthcoming visit to Nairobi by their Spiritual Leader, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, scheduled for 8–18 January 2026.
The meeting noted that His Holiness will be accompanied by a team of highly experienced laparoscopic surgeons from Mumbai. The team plans to undertake fifty (50) free laparoscopic surgical procedures for patients unable to afford specialised care. The surgeries are scheduled to take place at Kenyatta National Hospital and Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital between 13 and 14 January 2026.
Where feasible, the visiting surgeons will work alongside local medical professionals, providing hands-on support and sharing expertise to strengthen local capacity.
The Community sought guidance on the appropriate coordination framework with the Ministry to ensure full compliance with all clinical, professional, and regulatory requirements, and reaffirmed its commitment to adhere to all directives issued by the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry continues to leverage strategic partnerships to advance equitable access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans, in line with the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
Hon. Duale was accompanied at the meeting by the Director-General for Health, Patrick Amoth, and the Secretary, Administration for Public Health and Professional Standards, Adan Harakhe.
