Duale Leads Talks to Move Police to SHIF

Nairobi, January 19, 2025 - Following a directive from H.E. President William Ruto, Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale convened a high-level meeting with the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, and the Social Health Authority (SHA) to advance the transition of the police to the state-run Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).

The meeting resolved to establish a joint technical team comprising representatives from the police, prisons, and SHA to finalise benefit packages, service delivery arrangements, and transition plans to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted migration. The Cabinet Secretary noted that the move supports the 5th Administration’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda of delivering equitable, sustainable, and quality healthcare for all Kenyans.

Hon. Duale was accompanied by the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr Ouma Oluga; Deputy Head of Public Service, Mr Amos Gathecha; SHA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mercy Mwangangi; Digital Health Agency Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Anthony Lenayara; and KNPS Accounting Officer, Ms Bernice Sialaal Lemedeket, among other distinguished leaders.
