Health CS Aden Duale Leads Consultations on Health Sector Budget Priorities

Nairobi, January 22, 2026 - Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale today led the Ministry of Health leadership in a consultative meeting on health sector budget priorities for the current financial year, hosted by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Hon. John Mbadi.


The meeting focused on aligning fiscal planning with national health priorities to strengthen service delivery and improve health outcomes nationwide.

Key discussions centred on accelerating the digitisation of the health system to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability in healthcare delivery.

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) featured prominently, with deliberations on ensuring adequate and sustainable financing to support its continued nationwide rollout and guarantee access to affordable, quality healthcare for all Kenyans.

The consultations also addressed broader health sector priorities, including strengthening health systems, enhancing disease surveillance, and bolstering emergency preparedness and response.

The engagement reaffirmed the importance of close collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the National Treasury in delivering sustainable, people-centred health outcomes.

Hon. Duale was accompanied by Principal Secretaries Dr Ouma Oluga (Medical Services) and Ms Mary Muthoni (Public Health and Professional Standards), as well as Social Health Authority (SHA) CEO Dr Mercy Mwangangi and Digital Health Agency (DHA) CEO Eng. Anthony Lenayara, among other senior officials.
