PS  Muthoni Calls for Stronger Public–Private Partnerships to Accelerate Malaria Elimination in Kenya

Nairobi , 2026 Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms Mary M. Muriuki, has called for deeper, strategic and long-term collaboration between government and the private sector to sustain Kenya’s progress against malaria, underscoring that shared leadership and predictable investment are critical to achieving elimination.

Speaking during the End Malaria Council Kenya Private Sector Roundtable in Nairobi, the PS noted that Kenya has reduced malaria prevalence from 104 to 72 cases per 1,000 population, but warned that sustaining these gains requires stronger domestic financing and structured public-private partnerships.

She emphasised that malaria continues to undermine productivity and economic growth, urging businesses to integrate malaria prevention into workplace health programmes, urban planning, and long-term investment strategies to secure a healthier workforce and a more competitive economy.
