Kenya Engages Global Fund and Novo Nordisk Foundation on Primary Healthcare Strengthening
Nairobi, Kenya - - The Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, held a strategic engagement with representatives from The Global Fund and the Novo Nordisk Foundation on the sidelines of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026 in Nairobi.
The meeting, attended by Mette Davidsen, Director for Global and Public Health at the Novo Nordisk Foundation, focused on opportunities to strengthen integrated primary healthcare systems in line with Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage agenda under Taifa Care.
Discussions centred on aligning partnership areas with national priorities, including ongoing health financing reforms through the Social Health Authority, strengthening health commodity security, advancing digital health systems, and building a resilient health workforce.
The engagement comes as Kenya prepares for the next Global Fund funding cycle for the 2027–2030 period, positioning the country to leverage strategic partnerships to support health system strengthening.
Participants underscored the importance of coordinated engagement to ensure complementarity, avoid duplication, and maximise impact in advancing primary healthcare and Universal Health Coverage outcomes.
The meeting sets the foundation for continued collaboration aligned to Kenya’s health reform agenda.
