Dr. Ouma Oluga Meets ACHWIT Team to Review Progress in Health Workforce Development
Nairobi, Kenya - - Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga held a consultative meeting with the African Centre for Health Workforce Initiative and Transformation (ACHWIT) at Afya House, where the Centre’s leadership presented a progress report highlighting achievements realised during the first six months since its establishment.
The meeting reviewed key milestones attained, ongoing interventions, and priorities for the next phase of implementation aimed at strengthening health workforce development, enhancing institutional capacity, and supporting the Government’s broader health sector transformation agenda.
Dr. Oluga reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to building a resilient, skilled, and adequately supported health workforce, noting that human resources for health remain central to the delivery of quality healthcare services and the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The discussions underscored the importance of sustained collaboration in addressing workforce challenges, strengthening training and professional development, and improving health service delivery across the country.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Johansen Odour, representing the Director of Nursing and Curative Services, Dr. Andrew Toro, alongside officials from ACHWIT and the Ministry of Health.
