President Ruto Announces KSh 3 Billion Boost to Healthcare Providers During Mashujaa Day Speech

𝐊𝐰𝐚π₯𝐞, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 – πŽπœπ­π¨π›πžπ« 𝟐𝟎, πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ’ - President William Ruto, during his Mashujaa Day address in Kwale, announced the release of KSh 3 billion to clear outstanding payments owed to healthcare providers under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program. The funding is intended to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services as the country continues its transition to the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).Β Β 

The President highlighted the progress made in expanding healthcare access, noting that over 12.9 million Kenyans are now enrolled in SHIF. He urged private hospitals to join the UHC initiative, emphasizing the need for affordable and accessible healthcare for all citizens.Β 

Β Addressing concerns about the transition from the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to SHIF, President Ruto reassured Kenyans that NHIF staff would be fully integrated into the new system to maintain service continuity and quality.Β 

Β The celebrations were attended by Cabinet Secretary for Health Dr. Deborah Barasa, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni, and other top government officials.
