PS Dr. Oluga Meets AstraZeneca Delegation to Strengthen Collaboration on NCD Care in Kenya

A delegation from AstraZeneca, led by Mr. Deepak Aurora, Country President for the African Cluster,ย ย ย paid a courtesy call on Medical Services Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga at Afya House to discuss ongoing health programmes and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration in strengthening non-communicable disease care in Kenya.

The delegation highlighted key initiatives currently being implemented in the country, including Cancer Care Africa, Healthy Heart Africa, and various access programmes targeting oncology and non-communicable diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease.

Dr. Oluga welcomed the collaboration and reaffirmed the Ministry of Healthโ€™s commitment to establishing a policy platform that opens up the health sector to broader stakeholder participation. He emphasized that democratizing the health space will unlock innovation and reinforce the governmentโ€™s efforts to deliver quality, equitable health care across the country.
