PS Dr. Ouma Oluga Engages Family Planning Partners on Urgent Financing Needs

Nairobi, Kenya- 12th May 2025 - The Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, today met with family planning partners, led by the National Council for Population and Development (NCPD), to discuss the urgent need to secure sustainable financing for family planning (FP) commodities.

The meeting underscored Kenya’s progress in FP, including an increase in modern contraceptive prevalence to 57% and notable reductions in maternal deaths.

Dr. Oluga reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the State Department for Economic Planning, National Treasury, and Parliament to identify sustainable solutions. This includes proposals to designate FP commodities as strategic health commodities eligible for predictable funding.
