PS Muthoni advances the Universal Health Coverage agenda in Nyandarua County
Nyandarua , 2025 , Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, paid a courtesy call to Nyandarua Governor Hon. Dr. Moses Kiarie Badilisha and County Commissioner Mr. Abdirisack Jaldesa ahead of the #CervicalCancerAwareness commemoration.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) and County Governments to enhance health services and improve health outcomes.
Key areas of focus included accelerating SHA registration, integrating Community Health Promoters (CHPs) in grassroots engagements such as barazas, and reinforcing efforts in drug and substance abuse control. The meeting also explored strategies to enhance health facility infrastructure and human resources for health (HRH) to improve service delivery.
Additionally, the leaders emphasized tree planting, including fruit trees, as a key initiative for environmental conservation and sustainable health.
"Strengthening partnerships between the national and county governments is critical in delivering quality healthcare to all Kenyans. Through initiatives such as Community Health Promoters, we are making significant strides toward Universal Health Coverage," said PS Mary Muthoni.
