PS Muthoni Highlights Preventive Healthcare and Youth Drug Awareness on Angaaf Radio, Emphasizes Role of Community Health Services in UHC
Isiolo , 2026 Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, this evening joined Angaaf Radio for an engaging discussion on the Government’s progress, key priorities, and the way forward in improving health outcomes for all Kenyans, with strong emphasis on preventive and promotive healthcare.
The PS shared updates from the Jamii Imara Mashinani (JIM) – Consolidated County Engagements Report, outlining key issues raised across counties and the practical measures being undertaken to strengthen service delivery, enhance accountability, and deepen collaboration between the national and county governments.
She also sensitised young people on the dangers of drug and substance abuse, underscoring the importance of early prevention, awareness of health and social consequences, and the availability of support, treatment, and rehabilitation services.
Additionally, the Principal Secretary highlighted the critical role of community health services, particularly Community Health Promoters, in delivering primary healthcare at the household level, promoting healthy behaviours, supporting disease prevention, and accelerating progress towards Universal Health Coverage.
