PS Oluga Calls for Strategic Investment to Drive Health Sector Growth
Stronger strategic collaboration with the World Bank can help position Kenya’s health sector as a driver of economic growth, job creation and innovation, Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr Ouma Oluga has said.
Speaking during a high-level engagement, Dr Oluga called for health policies and legislation to be translated into tangible results for Kenyans through more efficient use of resources and increased investment.
He highlighted the need to sustain gains made through Universal Health Coverage (UHC) reforms, strengthen health financing and develop the health workforce. He also called for greater investment in local manufacturing of health products and technologies to enhance national health security and self-reliance.
Dr Oluga described digital health as a strategic asset for integrating services, strengthening evidence-based policymaking and driving innovation. He said health data and strategic partnerships could support solutions that respond to the population’s needs and increase the sector’s contribution to Kenya’s economic transformation.
