Training Workshop Boosts Public Health Emergency Response

๐๐š๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐›๐ข, ๐Ž๐œ๐ญ๐จ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’ โ€”The Division of Port Health Services, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), conducted a training workshop at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport fromย October 14ย to 18.ย 

The workshop aimed to enhance the skills of Port Health Officers from various airports, ports, and ground crossings in preventing and responding to public health emergencies. Participants focused on the application of the International Health Regulations (IHR, 2005) to control the international spread of diseases while supporting safe travel and trade.ย 

ย Dr. Abdourahmane Diallo, WHO Representative, reiterated the global bodyโ€™s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Health in strengthening workforce development in Kenya. He highlighted the need for implementing the requisite IHR core capacities at Points of Entry to enhance the countryโ€™s readiness for epidemic-prone diseases and other public health events. This training underscores Kenyaโ€™s dedication to enhancing public health safety and effective emergency response.
